  • About the course
If you hold a CCN1 qualification that is about to or has expired and you would like to renew your qualification so that you can still maintain your registration with Gas Safe Register, then this is the right assessment for you.

Re-assessment CCN1 is a more direct process designed to assess the following:
    – Key safety skills
    – Changes in the legislation and standards over the past 5 years and how they affect you as a gas engineer.

The CCN1 qualification is like the backbone to the appliances that you are qualified in and if you let your CCN1 expire then you will firstly be temporarily be removed from the gas safe register and any gas works that you carry out after CCN1 qualification will count as an illegal gas work.

TAF Training Centre has devised a plan to encourage Gas engineers to book assessments early a new system has been introduced to allow installers to be assessed up to 6 months before their current ACS expires.

This gives engineers time to ensure their registrations do not lapse due to expired ACS and it follows on from the old expiry date, this means that you do not lose any time on your ACS. We recommend that engineers do take this opportunity as it can take up to 20 days for the certificates to be produced which could leave them unqualified and working illegally.

By choosing this option you are also eliminating the risk of having to pay the initial Gas Safe Registration Fee as appose to the update fee.

    Assessment Structure
The written assessment is significantly reduced as a consequence and appliance assessments are based on a safety inspection rather than covering installation, commissioning and servicing. The assessment is structured in such a way that it covers all the changes within the gas regulations and standards. The topics that you will be assessed on are:
    – Gas Safety (installation and use) regulations 1998
    – Combustion
    – Carbon Monoxide Awareness
    – Installation practices
    – Gas tightness testing and purging
    – Flues and Chimneys
    – Plus any gas appliances you are qualified in.

    Duration
The CCN1 assessment that you will undertake can take 2 days as the first day you will cover all the theory assessments, then day 2 will be practical assessment
