This is an assessment for those who have either completed the Pathway to Gas Training (also known as APL) or for those who hold a relevant NVQ qualifications in Plumbing or Heating and Ventilation. This assessment based on the Gas Safety regulations on the safety when working with domestic gas appliances.

This course can help you progress within the gas industry and with this course you can understand the requirements under the Gas Safety Regulations and work on gas pipework
If you only take this qualification and you register yourself with Gas Safe you only see this qualification on you gas card as pipework.
About the course
To do this course you must have got the Pathway to Gas Certificate (also known as APL) or you hold a relevant NVQ Qualification in Plumbing or Heating and Ventilation. This Course is the main core that you need to do gas appliances such as gas boiler, fire, gas cookers etc.
The CCN1 assessment is structure to assess your knowledge in both theory and practical and the main purpose of this assessment is to know how you relate and refer to the regulations and British standards. At TAF Training Centre we don’t time you on our theory paperwork and this will reduce the pressure that you might have when you are timed.

– Gas Combustion
– Gas Controls
– Gas Pipework and Installation Practises
– Domestic Gas Pipework Sizing
– Domestic Gas Tightness Testing
– Flue and Chimneys Requirements
– Ventilation Requirements
– Gas Unsafe Situations
The practical assessment room has been set up to give you a real job scenario whereby you have do to the following:
– Visual checks on varies flues and chimneys, gas pipework etc
– Carrying out safety checks on the gas appliances as stated in the gas regulations.
– Test flue performance, appliance working pressures and ventilation sizing.
Assessment Material and Equipment
TAF Training Centre recommends to buy some books which help you to understand and do a quick reference in order to understand the question and answer accordingly.
The equipment will be provided for you when you enter our Practical Assessment Workshop where you will need to use the tools and work on the gas appliances that we have set up for assessment purposes.
The entry requirements to enrol for ACS CCN1 Assessment courses are:
– You hold a Pathway to Gas Certificate (also known as APL)
– You need to hold the relevant NVQ qualifications in Plumbing and/or Heating and Ventilation.
